Description/Blazon
A Silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned:  Sanguine, a cross fleurett Argent within a bordure of the like, in dexter chief a cross Vert.

Symbolism
Maroon and white are the colors traditionally associated with the Medical Corps.  The cross with arms terminating in fleur-de-lis represents the original unit's service of mercy in France.  The green Geneva cross signifies the first shoulder patch worn by the Second Sanitary Train in France.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was originally approved for the 2d Medical Regiment on 12 March 1924.  It was redesignated for the 2d Medical Battalion on 26 February 1940.  The insignia as redesignated for the 302d Support Battalion with the description and symbolism revised effective 16 October 1989.

On a wreath of the colors Argent and Sanguine, the shoulder sleeve insignia of the 2d Infantry Division Proper (a green cross bearing a white star charged with an Indian's head Proper).

The coat of arms was originally approved for the 2d Medical Regiment on 21 January 1922.  It was redesignated for the 2d Medical Battalion with the history revised on 26 February 1940.  The insignia was redesignated for the 302d Support Battalion with the blazon and symbolism revised effective 16 October 1989.
